Celebrate Symmes: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
Symmes Township is 200 years old and we will be celebrating the occasion with several events throughout the year designed to bring together residents, businesses and visitors to commemorate two centuries of shared heritage. The events include:
- Youth Fishing Derby - Sat. Apr. 20/9:00am at Symmes Park
- Seven Gables Park Dedication - Thurs. May 16/5:00 - 7:00pm at Seven Gables Park
- American Heritage Day - Sat. June 22/Noon - 4:00pm in Camp Dennison
- Symmes Heritage Festival - Sat. Aug. 24/11:00am - 2:00pm at the Meade Historic Preserve
- Ice Cream Social & Movie Night - Sat. Sept. 14/7:00-10:00pm at Hopewell Meadows Park
- Symmes 5K Run - Sat. Oct. 19/9:00am at Home of the Brave Park

In case you didn't know, the Township was formed in 1824 from the eastern portion of Sycamore Township. It bears the name of John Cleves Symmes, who in 1788, made the "Miami Purchase" which also led to the founding of Cincinnati.
