What Is A Township?
Symmes Township is governed by a Board of Trustees and a Fiscal Officer. Township officials are elected to four-year terms, one trustee and Fiscal Officer being elected on odd-numbered years and the two remaining trustees elected two years later.
As the governing body of the Township, the Board is responsible for developing policy and overseeing the Township administration. They are supported by administrative staff members and a variety of committees and commissions.
The elected officials are your neighbors and are eager to discuss resident issues, listen to ideas and welcome the interest and questions from their fellow citizens. Trustee meetings are broadcast on area public access cable programming as a service of the Intercommunity Cable Regulatory Commission of Southwest Ohio (ICRC).
The Board of Trustees are supported by several committees. Some of these have official standing under Ohio law. Others are advisory only or have a community orientation. The Board of Trustees is responsible for appointing qualified and capable Township residents to these committees when required by statute or resolution.
