The Ad Hoc Master Plan Steering Committee is working in conjunction with McBride Dale Clarion to develop a Ten-Year Comprehensive Master Plan for Symmes Township. A summary of the process, to date, is provided below.
May 2007 - The Committee held their first public meeting and sent out a survey to residents and business owners to solicit their thoughts on the issues and opportunities facing the future of Symmes Township. Below is an overall summary of those issues identified from the public.

September 2007 - The Committee held a meeting to discuss the next step in formulating the Master Plan. In essence, the priority issues gathered from residents thus far need to be grouped into about 5 to 6 planning themes with related goals. The Committee was asked to review the information and submit their comments to the planner via email.
November 2007 - The Committee held a meeting to review the Transportation and Land Use & Development portions of the Master Plan. It was determined that the Township will continue to expand the sidewalk plan where possible, continue to provide a well-maintained and safe network of local roads, make efforts to administer its own zoning code and update its Land Use Plan to reflect new planning strategies.
December 2007 - The Committee held a meeting to review the Township's Land Use Plan. Russ Sparks from Hamilton County Rural Zoning gave a brief summary of the process. He then identified several "hot spot" areas in the Township that needed to be reviewed and asked the Committee to recommend specific planning strategies. Some areas were discussed and recommendations were made to change these classifications.
January 2008 - The Committee reviewed all the recommendations for the Master Plan. A representative of McBride Dale Clarion was then asked to compile all the information into a full document by spring. A public hearing will then be scheduled so that the general public can review the document. Details would be included in the spring newsletter in hopes of getting the information out.
May 2008 - The Committee met to review and comment on the draft copy of the Master Plan. The plan was then presented to the public at a public meeting on May 14 at the Safety Service Center. Some of the topics that were discussed were zoning, sidewalks and property maintenance. A copy of the draft can be found here. Also, a copy of the minutes for the public hearing can be found here.
October 2008 - The Committee met to review concept plans for the Harper's Point area. The comments will be incorporated into the final copy of the Master Plan and presented at a public meeting in December. A copy of the minutes can be found here.
December 2008 - A public meeting to review the final draft of the Master Plan was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. The plan will now be brought before the Board of Trustees for adoption. To review a copy, please see below.
