Symmes Township was formed in 1824. Stagecoach roads and railroads were at the forefront of the area's initial growth. In 1853 the Little Miami Railroad was completed, connecting the Township residents to commute to Cincinnati, and provide Township merchants with easy access to Cincinnati's commercial center.
A strong link remains between the Township's industrious German and Scotch-Irish settlers and people living in the Township today. It is shared appreciation for open spaces, privacy and a less hectic life. And though commercial and residential development has been a consistent feature of the Township's proud history, Township leaders and residents alike are dedicated to preserving the residential beauty and quality of life that has attracted people to the area for more then 200 years.
